This series comprises records generated as a result of a task force created by the Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation (DWMIC) of The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) to study missionary compensation. These records are from 1969-1980 with the bulk of records dating from 1976-1980. They were retained by Phillip Jacobson, Business Administrator of the DWMIC and a member of the Task Force on Missionary Compensation. Records include study and agenda material sent to task force members, information on missionary compensation provided by TALC districts, minutes from task force meetings, recommendations from task force meetings, correspondence related to the task force and its work, studies and articles related to missionary compensation issues, and a copy of a study of missionary compensation conducted by the Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA).

The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church.
